The Knowledge and Data Engineering Group (KDEG) investigates the fundamental challenges and practical applications of knowledge-driven systems.
University of Oxford
Two departments of Oxford will be involved in ALIGNED: the Department of Computer Science, which will lead the semantics-driven software engineering workpackage and the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, which will lead the validation workpackage and provide the expert-curated data (Seshat) use case. The Department of Computer Science, ranked first in Europe in the Shanghai tables, has particular strengths in software engineering, programming languages, and information systems. The School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography is one of the oldest and most distinguished anthropology departments in the world.
University of Leipzig
The Institute for Applied Computer Science (InfAI) at Universität Leipzig hosts world class research groups in service and web science. The approximately 40 researchers of the Agile Knowledge Engineering and Semantic Web (AKSW) research group at InfAI are establishing theoretical results and scalable implementations for realizing the Semantic Data Web.
Wolters Kluwer Germany is an information services company specializing in the legal, business and tax sectors. Wolters Kluwer provides pertinent information to professionals in the form of literature, software and services. Headquartered in Cologne, it has over 1,200 employees located at over 20 offices throughout Germany, and has been conducting business on the German market for over 25 years. Semantic Web Company is an SME, based in Vienna, Austria and founded in 2001, which offers ICT consulting services & solutions in semantic information management. Besides being one of the first European suppliers of consulting services in semantic web technologies and related topics, Semantic Web Company is the founder of the SEMANTiCS conference series (in 2005), one of Europe’s largest industry outreach events in the field of semantic systems and knowledge management.
