Members of the ALIGNED team attended the SEMANTiCS 2016 conference in Leipzig from September 12-15, 2016.
This year’s conference, the twelfth, was the most successful yet. 280 people showed up to attend a wide range of talks, workshops, and events. On Monday 12 September, ALIGNED hosted a workshop on Linked Data Quality, with ten talks showcasing the latest developments in this field. Thursday 15 September was DBpedia Day, the 7th edition of the DBpedia Community Meeting, where guest speaker Monika Solanki, Oxford Software Engineering, spoke to the team working on the DBpedia ontology.
Industry uptake of semantic web technologies is increasing, as this year saw the highest number of industry submissions ever. Christian Dirschl, Wolters Kluwer Germany, talks about the success of the Semantic Web:
